Every year more than 400,000 new cases of cancer affect children worldwide. However, thanks to better therapies, the futures of childhood cancer patients have slowly been transformed. Growing numbers of these patients become long-term survivors and go on to live full and happy lives, with the survival rate increasing to over 80% in the last few decades.
September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and as a proud and long-standing sponsor of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Catalyst is always sure to mark the month with some fun fundraising! The rise to an over 80% survival rate is incredible, but we remain passionate about continuing to collaborate with St Jude’s and support them in boosting that rate to 100%.
Catalyst has once again invited employees to participate in “PJammin’ for Kids with Cancer” … PJammin’? Simply wearing your pajamas wherever you go for the day. Why Pajamas? They are the battle uniform for kids with cancer, often spending long periods in the hospital modelling their best PJs.
Last week, we were proud to wear out best and wackiest pajamas once again to work to raise awareness about childhood cancer and hopefully bring a smile to some of those children. Our office-based teams, as ever, accepted the very comfy challenge of wearing their pajamas to work. The teams raised an impressive $2,700 towards our ongoing total… and enjoyed a very relaxed day in the office. We are pleased to share a peek into some photos from our PJ day.
The Catalyst team never disappoints in showing their commitment to St. Jude’s and will continue to strive to win the battle against cancer every day. Look out for next month’s fundraising efforts involving some spooky shenanigans with some of the leadership team.
