Triangle Business Journal’s Annual Recognition Salutes Young Business and Community Leaders

Raleigh, N.C., 1 June 2022 – Emma Primon, director of marketing and communications for Catalyst Clinical Research, has been named a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Leadership Award for 2022. The Triangle Business Journal awards highlight the achievements of young business and community leaders in the Research Triangle region.

The awards recognize accomplished professionals under age 40 for contributions to their organizations and the community. More than 200 nominations were submitted; 40 winners were chosen by a panel of independent judges and reviewed by the Triangle Business Journal. Winners will be honored on June 29 at Fletcher Opera Theater in Raleigh.

Since 2019, Primon has directed Catalyst’s internal and external communications and marketing. The evolution of the company’s marketing strategy and service launches, pioneered by Primon, has resulted in significant growth of Catalyst’s digital footprint, brand recognition, and client base. During the company’s 2020 merger with Ce3, Inc., Primon designed and launched communications to engage and inspire the newly merged workforce. “Catalyst Kudos,” a peer recognition system, and “Catalyst Compass,” a newly designed intranet, were among her supported innovations following the merger. More recently, Primon plays a vital role in integrating the newly acquired UK-based Aptus Clinical, developing and leading employee communications and engagement campaigns.

Primon and her team kicked-off charitable initiatives for several community non-profits, including support in 2021 for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Triangle Walk/Run, which raised over $17,000 for St. Jude. The team also launched “Catalyst Cares,” a corporate giving program that supports employee-nominated charities.

Before joining Catalyst, Primon held a marketing leadership role at MedSource, now Ergomed. She also launched Catch.Co, an independent marketing agency that supported several biopharmaceutical research companies. She earned an undergraduate degree and MBA from Campbell University.

Melissa Church, senior vice president of strategy and solutions at Catalyst, praised Primon’s ability to contribute to the company’s people-first culture—a subject of pride within Catalyst—and support executives in greater involvement with the community through corporate giving.

“Emma’s focus on the Catalyst culture and her innovative contributions to support that culture have made a difference for us,” says Church. “Her role has expanded because she has demonstrated the ability to engage and inspire our teams and contribute to a cohesive company culture.” Church also cited Primon’s mentoring of the members of her team.

The Triangle Business Journal announced the 2022 winners of the 40 Under 40 Leadership Award in groups of 10 during each weekly issue in May.

“These winners reflect the entrepreneurial spirit and the economic prowess of the diverse community in which we live and work,” said TBJ Publisher and Raleigh Market President Jason Christie. “The Triangle is a better place because of the efforts of these honorees. I’m proud to know that the future of this area is in such good hands.”
